Welcome to HOST - Stralsund University of Applied Sciences

A week for a successful start to your studies: As part of "ANKOMMEN & ORIENTIEREN", helpful seminars and lectures as well as various introductory events will take place in the respective faculties for first-semester students of all Bachelor's degree programmes.

We will also welcome our new Master's students to campus on Monday, 15 September 2025. Special information and introductory events for the Master's degree programmes will take place on this day.

You will receive detailed information on the procedure by email at the beginning of September.

  • The ceremony to mark the start of the 2025/2026 academic year will take place on Tuesday, 16 September 2025 for all new students in the Kulturkirche St. Jakobi at 14:00.
    Before the ceremony, the first-year students and university representatives will march together through the old town to the square in front of St Jakobi Church to announce the start of the semester to the people of Stralsund
  • At the ceremony, the deans of the faculties - Prof. Dr Claudia Danker (Economics), Prof. Dr Birgit Steffenhagen (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and Prof. Dr Mark Vehse (Mechanical Engineering) - ceremonially enrol one student from each degree programme.
  • Traditionally, prizes are awarded at the ceremony to the best Bachelor students of the fifth semester in terms of grade point average - by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences' support association and the MV Chamber of Engineers.
  • This year, for the first time, the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences' support association is offering an award to a student.
  • Afterwards, the traditional meet-and-greet market with a free drink takes place in front of the Kulturkirche St Jakobi.
