Accelerating the Energy Transition: Innovation, Integration and Resilience

Stralsund University of Applied Sciences cordially invites you to the 33rd REGWA Symposium “Renewable Energies and Hydrogen Technologies”.
The global energy transition has entered a decisive phase. Achieving climate neutrality requires not only the rapid deployment of renewable energy technologies but also their successful integration into increasingly complex energy systems. Innovation, system integration and resilience have become essential pillars of a secure, affordable and sustainable energy future.
Under the theme “Accelerating the Energy Transition: Innovation, Integration and Resilience”, the REGWA Symposium once again brings together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, municipal stakeholders and students to discuss current developments, challenges and solutions for the energy systems of the future.
The symposium provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on renewable energies, hydrogen technologies, energy storage, sector coupling, energy policy and other topics related to sustainable energy systems.
Call for Abstracts
Researchers, companies, institutions, students and interested stakeholders are warmly invited to contribute to the symposium with oral presentations or posters.
Abstracts (1 to 2 pages) may be submitted until 31 August 2026.
Conference Proceedings
All accepted contributions will be published in the official REGWA Conference Proceedings. The proceedings will be made available digitally after the symposium and will document the scientific and technical contributions presented at REGWA Symposium 2026.
Springer Proceedings
Following the successful Springer conference proceedings associated with the REGWA Symposium 2025, selected contributions from REGWA 2026 will again be considered for publication in an English-language Springer proceedings volume.
Authors interested in participating in the Springer publication are kindly requested to submit their abstracts in English and indicate their interest during the submission process.
Deadline for full paper submission: 30 September 2026.
Contributions are welcome in the following areas:

• Energy efficiency, resilience and environmental protection
• Sector coupling
• Hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cell technologies
• Alternative fuels and propulsion systems
• Onshore and offshore wind energy
• Photovoltaics and solar thermal energy
• Bioenergy and utilisation of organic residues
• Decarbonisation of heat supply
• Energy policy and regulatory frameworks
• Climate change research
• Acceptance and participation research

Participation Fees
The participation fees for this year's symposium are:
- €70 for presenters
- €260 for regular attendees
The registration fee covers participation in the first two symposium days (3–4 November 2026).
On 5 November 2026, we will host the Org2WasteFuel Day, which is free of charge and open to all interested participants.

Prologue
The global energy transition has entered a decisive phase. Achieving climate neutrality requires not only the rapid expansion of renewable energy generation, but also the successful integration of these resources into increasingly complex and interconnected energy systems. As energy infrastructures evolve, innovation, system integration and resilience have become essential pillars of a secure, affordable and sustainable energy future.
Governments, industry, researchers and society are confronted with fundamental challenges: How can renewable energy sources be integrated efficiently into existing grids and markets? How can energy systems remain resilient in the face of geopolitical uncertainties, climate-related risks and growing electrification? Which technological, regulatory and economic innovations are needed to accelerate the transition while ensuring competitiveness and public acceptance?
Europe has a particular role to play in this transformation. As a leading industrial region and a pioneer in renewable energy deployment, it must demonstrate how climate neutrality can be achieved while maintaining security of supply, economic prosperity and social cohesion. Hydrogen technologies, energy storage, sector coupling, digitalisation and smart infrastructure will all play a crucial role in this process.
Under the theme “Accelerating the Energy Transition: Innovation, Integration and Resilience”, the 33rd REGWA Symposium will explore current developments, technological advances, policy frameworks and practical solutions that can support the transition towards a sustainable energy system.
The REGWA Symposium once again provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange between academia, industry, policymakers and civil society.
We look forward to stimulating discussions, new collaborations and innovative ideas for shaping the energy systems of tomorrow.
