Welcome to the symposium!
Stralsund University of Applied Sciences invites you to the 32nd REGWA Symposium "Renewable Energies and Hydrogen Technologies". The event will take place from 5th to 7th November 2025.
A new addition to this event is the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Conference, which will take place in parallel and aims to further encourage exchange on hydrogen topics in the Baltic Sea region.
Furthermore, we are continuing the German-Polish Hydrogen Conference, which was successfully launched last year, in cooperation with the Cross-Border Information and Advisory Network (IBN).
These initiatives offer new opportunities for international exchange on current developments in science, technology and practice in the field of hydrogen and renewable energies.
The conference is aimed at researchers in the field of renewable energies, companies in the energy industry, municipal representatives, students and interested stakeholders who who wish to share and discuss the current state of science, technology and practical applications.
The 2025 programme at a glance:
- 5 November 2025, morning: German-Polish Hydrogen Conference (German–Polish–English)
- 5 November 2025, afternoon: Excursion to Greifswald to the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP)
- 5 November 2025, evening: Get-together in Stralsund
- 06.11.2025: REGWA Energy Symposium (German–English) & Baltic Sea Hydrogen Conference (English) – parallel conference sessions, joint dinner
- 07.11.2025: REGWA Energy Symposium & Baltic Sea Hydrogen Conference – continuation of parallel sessions
There are still presentation slots open. If you would like to participate with your own presentation or poster contribution, please submit your proposal via the registration form. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 30 September 2025. You are welcome to use our template for preparing papers for the conference proceedings.
Topics from the following areas are welcome:
- Energy grids and energy storage
- Energy efficiency, resilience and environmental protection
- Sector coupling
- Hydrogen technology
- Hydrogen infrastructure and fuel cell technology
- Alternative fuels / alternative drive systems
- Onshore/offshore wind energy
- Photovoltaics/solar thermal energy
- Decarbonisation of the heat supply
- Legal regulations of energy policy
- Climate change research
- Acceptance and participation research
This year's REGWA is again planned as a face-to-face event.
Registration for interested participants without a presentation will open after the summer break. Please plan the conference date in your calendar.
Participation in the conference is free of charge.

Prologue
The world is in the middle of a profound transformation: the energy transition is no longer a purely national project, but a global challenge with enormous implications. While the need to move away from fossil fuels is undisputed in view of the climate crisis, politics, business, science and society are faced with complex questions: How can energy systems be restructured quickly and in a socially acceptable way? What regulatory framework is required to promote innovation and facilitate investment? And how can technological developments, for example in the field of the hydrogen economy, be sustainably integrated into existing structures?
Europe has a particular responsibility here - both as an industrialised nations with high energy requirements and as a technological pioneer in the field of renewable energies. At the same time, geopolitical tensions, volatile energy markets and the sluggish implementation of key reforms are putting the energy transition to the test both here in Germany and worldwide.
The 32nd REGWA Energy Symposium is therefore once again addressing the most pressing issues about the future of our energy supply - with a special focus on renewable energies and hydrogen technology as key elements of a decarbonised energy system. Current developments, technological innovations, regulatory decisions and social perspectives will take centre stage.
The REGWA Symposium will once again provide a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue between science, business and civil society.
We look forward to exciting discussions and new impulses for shaping a climate-neutral future.
