"International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BMS)" is an international 4-year Bachelor degree course completely taught in English, which focuses on the Baltic Sea Region (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Norway, Russia, Sweden)

The initial 4 semesters of our programme introduce students to general business administration (such as cost accounting, economics, law and mathematics) and focus on international management theory, cross-cultural management, corporate finance as well as maritime transport and sustainability in the Baltic Sea Region.

To allow students to acquire special competence and deepen their skills, in the 5th and 6th semesters, viz. Management and Innovation, International finance and trade, Markets and communication as well as German Business.

As for languages studied, Business English is compulspory; as is one language from the Baltic Sea Region - Norwegian, Polish or Swedish - and our international students study German as a Foreign Language.

BMS is highly practice-oriented due to guest lectures, working on real projects, organization of special events, national and international excursions, one semester abroad is mandatory (either as study or internship semester) and an obligatory 21-weeks internship. Final-year students write a dissertation on international topics, which finalises their preparation for an international career.

A scholarship and a price for students on the BMS degree programme

Six companies, the German government and the DAAD enable students to focus on their studies and continue their commitments.

The Rotary Club Stralsund-Hansestadt is one of the regular sponsors of scholarships for students at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences.
This year, it supported Florika Wetzel (20, International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BA)), who is active in the volunteer fire brigade and is committed to environmental and social issues.

We would also like to congratulate Tanya Linaswe Chelsea Magorimbo! She received this year's price of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The Bachelor's student on our International Management in the Baltic Sea Region degree programme looked after several international students as part of the university's Buddy Programme and also impressed us with her excellent performance, her commitment to the International Event Point and the LEO Club.

25 Years BMS

On June 11, 2022, a unique day took place involving a ceremony and reception, afternoon activities, dinner and a get together on campus and in Stralsund. Former and current students as well as former and current professors from HOST spent a beautiful anniversary together and created memories that will forever be cherished by us all.

I am studying International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BMS), because...

Romy

Today I work as Strategic Purchaser, Service (Global Procurement) at Vestas Wind Systems A/S in Denmark.

During my time at the HOST I especially liked the small group size of the classes which created a familial atmosphere. The same goes for the complete study program. Professors, lecturers and everyone in administrations have been available and supportive at all times. Especially the BMS coordinator always had an open door and a piece of good advice.

Profile of the graduate Romy

Angela

"I am head of the BMW Group Representative Office in Sacramento, California. I coordinate the corporate positioning with all relevant political stakeholders in the fields of environmental, mobility and sustainability policies in California, Oregon and Washington.

Previously, I worked in the BMW Group's international political communication team on issues related to social policy and electric mobility. My career with BMW began in London at the Representative Office for the UK and Ireland representing the BMW Group in a broad range of bodies covering the whole range of policy issues."

"I work as Area Manager Used Cars Western Europe in the company Volkswagen AG.

I decided to study at HOST because the Hanseatic City of Stralsund was a stunning study location right by the Baltic Sea, the university offered a modern and friendly campus, BMS added to the international flavour and, with the deep-dive into the Baltic Sea region, a unique focus beyond the profound basic knowledge in management."

"...Today I work as Area Sales Manager at the Online Travel Website HolidayCheck

I decided to study at the University of Applied Science, Stralsund because at my first visit at an open house event, I instantly felt the familial atmosphere. I was really impressed by the campus which is directly located at the sea.

Within BMS, you can also learn a Baltic language which also fascinated me. Another benefit for the University is the beautiful historic city which is only 15 minutes by bike from the campus..."

"...Today i worked as Country Manager at Business Sweden, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council in Dubai.

I decided to study at the University of Applied Science, Stralsund because of its remarkable combination of perfect geographical location and its professional look and feel I had during my first visit, avaluating the study opportunities, facilities and lecturers - a first impression that proved right over an dover again during my time on (and off) campus, and beyond!

I especially liked the small study groups and open doors to all faculty staff, granting a family feel and extraordinary learning environment, with daily and direct interactions, personal feedback, coaching and individual development."
