In Deutschland leben laut Mikrozensus (2022) 83,1 Millionen Menschen, 23,83 Millionen Menschen davon haben einen Migrationshintergrund, 12,19 Millionen davon sind eingewanderte Deutsche, deren Kinder und Kindes-Kinder.
Beim viel diskutierten Potsdamer Treffen im November ging es auch um Pläne, ihnen ihr Aufenthaltsrecht zu nehmen. Die gesellschaftspolitische Debatte um Inhalte und Folgen ist bekannt. Die Hochschule positioniert sich als Institution eines erklärt freiheitlich-demokratischen und sozialen Rechtsstaats.
Dazu erklären Rektor, Kanzler und Senat:
„Als Hochschule sind wir zur politischen Neutralität verpflichtet. Neutral heißt aber nicht, dass wir nicht Stellung beziehen. Die Hochschule Stralsund steht mit ihren Mitgliedern für Miteinander und Respekt. Unsere Wegweiser sind Menschlichkeit und die Grundrechte für jeden Menschen. Wir stehen für Demokratie ein – Das ist nicht nur unsere Basis, es ist unsere Aufgabe.
Deshalb engagieren wir uns für eine pluralistische Gesellschaft – in der Hochschule und darüber hinaus. Wissenschaft kennt keine Grenzen, so lernen, lehren und forschen bei uns Menschen verschiedenster Nationalitäten. Bei uns ist Internationalität und Diversität zu Hause. Unser Ziel ist es, dass wir uns alle – egal, woher wir kommen – wohl und sicher fühlen können. Wir setzen uns aktiv dafür ein, dass das so bleibt. #NieWiederIstJetzt“
Deutschlandweit finden seit mehreren Tagen Demonstrationen statt, bei denen Menschen für Demokratie beziehungsweise gegen Rechtsextremismus und Faschismus auf die Straße gehen. In MV waren das bereits Demos in Greifswald (13.1.), Rostock (15.1.), Schwerin (16.1.) und Bergen auf Rügen (17.1.). Am 19. Januar um 17 Uhr startet eine Demonstration auf dem Alten Markt Stralsund.

University management and university policy organisations position themselves with regard to the current socio-political debate.
According to the microcensus (2022), 83.1 million people live in Germany, 23.83 million of whom have a migration background, 12.19 million of whom are immigrant Germans, their children and their children's children.
The much-discussed Potsdam meeting in November also centred on plans to take away their right of residence. The socio-political debate about content and consequences is well known. The university positions itself as an institution of a declared liberal-democratic and social constitutional state.
The Rector, the Head of Administration and Senate declare:
"As a university, we are committed to political neutrality. However, neutral does not mean that we do not take a stand. Stralsund University of Applied Sciences and its members stand for togetherness and respect. Our guiding principles are humanity and the fundamental rights of every human being. We stand up for democracy - this is not only our basis, it is our task.
That is why we are committed to a pluralistic society - at the university and beyond. Science knows no borders, which is why people of different nationalities learn, teach and do research at our university. We embrace internationality and diversity with internationality and diversity. Our goal is for all of us - regardless of where we come from - to feel safe and sound. We are actively committed to ensuring that this remains the case. #NieWiederIstJetzt"
Demonstrations have been taking place across Germany for several days now, with people taking to the streets in favour of democracy and against right-wing extremism and fascism. In MV, there have already been demonstrations in Greifswald (13 January), Rostock (15 January), Schwerin (16 January) and Bergen auf Rügen (17 January). On 19 January at 5 pm, a demonstration will start at the Alter Markt in Stralsund.
