Departments and Speakers

The AStA is organized in departments, which ideally consist of a main speaker and often several co-speakers. Due to the varied student life, there is a lively change of incoming and outgoing members, which is why the various departments are always happy to receive new members!

Chair

CHAIR

The chair coordinates the work of the AStA. He also guarantees that everything is regulated in accordance with the law. The person of the chair has the right to speak and make motions in the Senate and the Extended Senate. The chair also carries and takes over the tasks of the unoccupied departments.

The chair is currently held by Arne Amir Azazi. He is assisted by co-chair Silja Springfeld.

They can be contacted directly at asta.vorsitz@hochschule-stralsund.de.

ARNE AMIR AZAZI

Chairman

Studies: Mechanical Engineering Master

Dear fellow students,
Dear Readers,

Education consists of more than absorbing knowledge. It is up to us to shape the everyday life of our students.

Why AStA?
Student committees offer us a great opportunity to actively participate in university political processes.
For more than ten years now, I have been active in various representative bodies and have grown with my tasks and challenges. I enthusiastically look forward to continuing such an activity.

Activities?
My goals in the AStA are to strengthen the administrative structure, to actively organize meetings with the university administration and to realize a lively cooperation between the committees and associations.

And besides that?
I appreciate to get to know people in different ways, to take something from them and to gain something from them.
I am always open to your concerns and wishes.

SILJA SPRINGFELD

Co-Chair

Studies: Leisure and Tourism Management since winter term 2019

Moin,
I am Silja and come from Schleswig-Holstein from the Baltic Sea. Stralsund as a place to study convinced me with its proximity to the sea and the course of studies in tourism. Before I started my studies in Stralibu, I traveled around the world for half a year and did an apprenticeship.

Why AStA?
Already during my apprenticeship I was involved in the youth and apprentice representation. It was always fun for me to set up great projects for the apprentices. That's why I decided to join the AStA and support the students. Since the 2nd semester I am part of the department Internationals&Erstis and since September 2020 I am part of the board.

And what else?
Besides my friends and traveling, my big passion is equestrian sports and I spend every free minute in the stable with my horse. Furthermore, I like to explore the area around Stralsund or read a book.

Finances

FINANCES

The responsibilities of a Finance speaker are to keep track of finances, budget planning, and monitor budget compliance.

The main speaker is currently Christina Schmäh. She is assisted by Jan Schulz and Marieke Joppeck.

They can be contacted directly at asta.finanzen@hochschule-stralsund.de.

CHRISTINA SCHMÄH

Main speaker

Studies: BWL since WS 2018/19

Hey,

I'm Christina, I grew up in Prenzlau and for me Stralsund is a very nice city.

Why AStA?

I like to volunteer, since 2017 I am a member of the Rotaract Club Prenzlau. In AStA I see the chance to gain experience. In addition, we are a great team with which it is fun to work together. In addition, there is always something to laugh about in the sometimes long meetings.

Activities?

The area of finances includes accounting, i.e. the day-to-day business, and special annual tasks such as the annual financial statement and budget.

JAN SCHULZ

Co-Speaker

Studies: Business administration since 2015/16

Moin Moin,

My name is Jan Schulz and I have been a member of the AStA since I started studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences (formerly Fachhochschule Stralsund).  There is not much to tell about this time. I have seen many faces come and go, many things changed, but in the end the cohesion always remained of the same importance.

Why AStA?

Somehow a friend of a friend told me that I should take a look. He would know what I could do. Then I came and never left, and to this day I mostly enjoy what I do. There were always people I could turn to. Everyone makes mistakes and as long as you only make them once, no one will hold them against you.

Activities?

Finance includes bookkeeping, i.e. day-to-day business, and special annual tasks such as the annual financial statements and budget. Putting your finger in the wound again and again and not shying away from a dispute are also among the things you may have to pay attention to. It is also important to take a look at the legal basis, i.e. the financial and contribution regulations in combination with the laws of the university.

MARIEKE JOPPECK

Co-Speaker

Studies: Leisure and Tourism Management since 2020/21

Hey,

I'm Marieke and I come from a small village near Rostock. The Baltic Sea has always been part of my home, which is why I immediately liked Stralsund and the university.

Why AStA?
It is a great opportunity to do something for the students and to work in a great team. (:

And what else?
As my course of studies actually already reveals, I like to travel and meet new people. Otherwise, I spend a lot of time with my friends or read a book.

Treasury

TREASURY

The task of the treasurer is to monitor the cash and bank accounts of the AStA. A treasurer also makes bank transfers.

Speakers are currently Mike Ben Sauer, Katja Sauer, Christian Tokaji and Antonia Kölpin.

They can be contacted at asta.kassenverwaltung@hochschule-stralsund.de.

MIKE BEN SAUER

Main speaker

Studies: Business Administration since WS14/15

Dear readers,

the following profile does not originate from the pen of the person described. How it came about is based on a long story: "Say, do you want to write my profile?" (short, with a little thinking art pause) "Yep, I can do it." Based on this incident, brimming with tension, it is now possible to present to you these words overflowing with extravagance.

What makes Mike?

Well, imagine a person whose silence can fill a room. Once he has decided to speak, the focus of the participants is clearly dedicated to him. A, to put it nicely, sometimes somewhat threatening appearance, which, however, immediately loses this effect with every anecdote about his life that he brings to light. A person who knows things of which one is not sure how and why he possesses this information. Add precision, humor, objectivity, and suddenly you have someone who is somehow not remotely what you would imagine in the department of treasury management, yet fills that position perfectly. No matter which office he would hold, in any case he would have managed, in his now already very long career, to change the image of this position around him, until as a final consensus only the perfect suitability of his own person remains. Enough about his person, now about the position of the treasurer.

Activities?

The treasurer is subordinate to finance and is the direct link between the bank and the student committee. Cash skimming, processing cash instructions and disputes with the bank are probably the most regular tasks. All not very exciting but not too monotonous with the special cases that always arise. All in all, an absolutely indispensable office, with a high level of responsibility but little external impact.

Concluding, I would this, but more to the Laudatio degenerated collection of words with a quote, for all who have made it to the end and especially also the described.

"I wish you that the sun shines for you." J. Vetter

With best wishes

J. S. on behalf of Mike Ben Sauer

CHRISTIAN TOKAJI

Co-speaker

Studies: Industrial Engineering Master since winter semester 2020/21 and Diploma Supplementary Industrial Engineering since winter semester 2018/19.

Moin,

my name is Christian Tokaji and I come from beautiful Eberswalde near Berlin. I have been studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences since 2015. I chose Stralsund because I only heard positive things about the university and I love the proximity to the water. I have never regretted this decision since then.

Why AStA?

At my old UAS, I was already active in different committees for a few semesters (e.g. StuPa, Senate & Student Council), but the activities & tasks there were more theoretical than practical. Since 2015, I have been active for the AStA in various departments and have a lot of fun with it. The opportunity to engage in varied activities for the student body is an indispensable and important experience for me.

Activities?

Currently I am working in the departments of cash administration and house 8. Within the cash administration I take care that the AStA as well as other committees and associations receive requested funds. In the department Haus 8 I am currently reviving the legendary Haus 8 together with my colleagues.

KATJA SAUER

Co-speaker

Studies: Business administration since WS 16/17

Hello!

I am Katja and have been studying Business Administration since 2016. My choice fell on Stralsund because the proximity to the water is simply a must for me. Since the end of 2017, I have been working in the AStA in the department of Social Affairs, and since WS18/19, I am now also the main speaker for Internal Affairs.

Why the AStA?

As a business student, you have a little time besides your studies. At some point it gets boring, so I thought I could do something useful, not only for me, but also for others. For example, go to the AStA. And there I am. :)

And what else?

Enjoying student life. Having "adventures" with my friends and trying new things (among other things I got my sport boat license), of course going to parties, but the best thing: I love to play volleyball and also play in the mixed team of HOST. Books and movies are my other passion. Instagram addict I am by the way also :D

Events, sports and culture

EVENTS, SPORTS AND CULTURE

The department Events, Sports and Culture organizes larger events and parties for the students of the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund. For a long time, the Holzhausen party was the event par excellence at the university - due to the sometimes chaotic guests, we unfortunately had to give it up. However, the Promnight, the winter ball of the university, has survived until now.

The current main-speaker is Lisa Klomann. She is supported by Julia Albrecht and Dominic Henning.

They can contacted at asta.events@hochschule-stralsund.de.

LISA KLOMANN

Main-speaker

Studies: LTM since WS 2020/21

Hey, I'm Lisa and I'm from Witten. I moved to Stralsund because I wanted to live by the sea and the university seemed very appealing. When I was here, I was not disappointed, because Stralsund is a beautiful city!

Why the AStA?

I love organizing things and participating in events, so AStA in the Events Department was the perfect choice for me! During my time in the AStA I have already gained a lot of new experiences and with a cool team the work is even more fun!

And what else?

In my free time I like to do sports or meet friends at the beach in the summer. I would also love to travel the whole world!

JULIA ALBRECHT

Co-Speaker

Studies: BMS since WS 2018/2019

Moin,

I'm Julia and I was born and raised in our beautiful Stralsund. You could never get me away from the water, so I thought I would study here too!

Why the AStA?

I like to have a look behind the scenes and want to know how everything works, and the AStA makes that possible. I also love to organize things, so the Events department fits perfectly.

And what else?

I like to take pictures, preferably analog, and I like to write a bit of poetry. And I never say no to a drink at the Gunn!

DOMINIC HENNING

Co-Speaker

Studies: Business Informatics since WS 2019/20

Moin,

I am Dominic Henning, a native of Stralsund, but grew up in Hamburg. After graduating from high school, the charm of this small but nice university drew me to Stralsund to do my studies here and be closer to my family.

Why the AStA?

Commitment is a way to show that you can think of other people and achieve great things together. This is what I want to contribute to. I already spent a year at the International Event Point (IEP) and then worked as an elected member of the student parliament to improve the lives of students. Now I have set my sights on the AStA and hope that together we can achieve a lot.

Activities?

I would like to bring my experience to the Events, Sports and Culture, and Sustainability units and help both put on nice events.

PAUL KUNZE

Co-Speaker

Studies: Mechanical Engineering Bachelor since September 2020

Moin,

My name is Paul. I come from a small town not far from Stralsund. I chose Stralsund because I prefer to study at a small, practice-oriented university than at a large university. In addition, the beautiful location and the proximity to home were decisive for this decision.

Why the AStA?

When I started studying, the 2nd lockdown came and the lectures were almost exclusively online for 2 semesters. During this time, the online events organized by the AStA helped me to get to know other students and brought us a little closer together despite Corona. As a result, I was invited to the weekly meetings and now I am here and can hopefully do the same for other students.

What else?

I'm very into sports, I've done breakdancing and boxing. However, I am still looking for a sports hobby for Stralsund.

Haus 8

HAUS 8

The department Haus 8 is the youngest of the AStA departments and was founded in summer 2020. House 8 is known to many as a meeting place for students, which is located directly on the university campus. After years of closure, new life is now to be breathed into the place. The keynote speaker is Till Mormann. He is assisted by the Co-speakers Christina Schmäh, Cassandra Gröbe, Mathis Köpp and Christian Tokaji.

They can be contacted at asta.haus8@hochschule-stralsund.de

TILL MORMANN

Main-Speaker

Studies: International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region since WS 2019/2020.

Moin,
I am Till and come from the beautiful Bachstadt and carnival stronghold Köthen
in Saxony-Anhalt. Looking for a completely English-language study program in the field of management, I came across HOST and have not regretted it. Stralsund is a beautiful city, the campus modern, the university "familiar" and the beach only 5 min away.

Why the AStA?

I have been a member of the carnival club KUKAKÖ all my life, so it is a matter of course for me to get involved in the community and to always help out.
and to always lend a hand. Where could I do that better than in the AStA?

Activities?

We want to achieve the revival of our student bar Haus 8, so that we finally have a regular meeting place for all students directly on campus again.

CHRISTIAN TOKAJI

Co-speaker

Studies: Industrial Engineering Bachelor since winter semester 2015/16

Hello,

I'm Christian and I'm from near Berlin. I have been studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences since 2015. I chose Stralsund because I only heard good things about the university, I love the proximity to the water and I like living in different cities.

Why the AStA?

At my old university I was already active for a few semesters in different committees (e.g. StuPa, Senate & Student Council), but the activities & tasks there were more theoretical than practical. Since ASTA offers more opportunities to get involved with the students, I decided to join.

Activities?

I am active in the department of university politics, because I can represent the interests of our students towards the university, but also on a local & national level and thus make studying a bit more pleasant for all of us.

I also work in the department house 8 and I am responsible for the cash administration.

CASSANDRA-LORRAINE GRÖBE

Co-Speaker

Studies: Leisure and Tourism Management since winter semester 20/21

Hello,

My name is Cassandra and I grew up in Stralsund. After 2 years of
the world, I decided to come back to Stralsund for my studies.
Stralsund for my studies.

Why AStA?

I find it exciting to look behind the scenes of the university and to get better insights. Since every voice should be heard, I want to get involved with the students and represent their opinions. Since I grew up in Stralsund, I still know House 8 in action. I am looking forward to reviving Haus 8 and creating added value for students in this way.

And what else?

Besides my studies, I work on the most beautiful island in Germany, Rügen, and take advantage of the great conditions there to go surfing. I also enjoy exploring new places and being out in nature.

University Policy

UNIVERSITY POLICY

As a speaker for university policy, one advocates for the concerns of the student body in the committees of the senate and at the state level.

The main speaker is currently Denis Pindt. He is supported by Celine Böhm.

They can be contacted directly at asta.hopo@hochschule-stralsund.de.

Denis Alessandro Pindt

Main-Speaker

Studies: BWL (BA & MA) since WS 16/17

Moin,

I am Denis Alessandro Pindt and I am originally from Berlin. Among other things, I chose Stralsund and studying at the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund because of my partner and the beautiful region.

Why the AStA?

I think every student should be involved in his or her university, for example in a student committee. I was already involved in the extended senate and the culture committee before. Besides working with and for the students, the expansion of my own soft skills is one of the many positive aspects of being an AStA member.

Activities?

I deliberately chose the department of university politics because I can work there with and especially for the students. In this department, the interests of the students can be represented beyond the university as well as, for example, in the state conference of the student body (LKS).

CELINE BÖHM

Co-Speaker

Studies: Management of SMEs since SS 2022 (currently adaptation semester BWL since WS 21/22)

Why the AStA?

I think it is good that there is a committee that stands up for the students and takes care of their concerns. I like to get involved and think that the AStA is a great honorary position, which is fun at the same time.

Occupation?

I have chosen the department of university politics, because in this department I can stand up for all students and also represent the students nationwide.

And apart from that?

I am originally from Thuringia, love to walk on the beach and enjoy my student life.

JEAN JAQUES BERRY

Co-Speaker

Studies: SMIB since WS 16/17

Hello,

My name is Jacques and I come from the small seaside resort of Lubmin on the Bodden. So by growing up in the north and showing technical interest, studying at HOST made a lot of sense.

Why the AStA?

Because I have been part of the ETI student council since my 2nd semester and would like to get more involved in my WINF Master. Since AstA has members from all faculties, joining was an obvious choice.

Activities?

Everything that happens in house 12 and on the Discord server.
