Departments and Speakers

The AStA is organized in departments, which ideally consist of a main speaker and often several co-speakers. Due to the varied student life, there is a lively change of incoming and outgoing members, which is why the various departments are always happy to receive new members!

Chair

CHAIR

The chair leads the AStA, supports the departments in the implementation of projects and participates in university policy meetings. In addition, he represents the AStA externally and communicates constantly with the rectorate and the bodies of the university administration. During our weekly work, we are often the first point of contact to deal with requests from organizations, students and the university administration.

The chair is currently held by Arne Amir Azazi. He is assisted by co-chair Paul Kunze.

They can be contacted directly at asta.vorsitz@hochschule-stralsund.de.

ARNE AMIR AZAZI

Chairman

Studies: Mechanical Engineering Master

Dear fellow students,
Dear Readers,

Education consists of more than absorbing knowledge. It is up to us to shape the everyday life of our students.

Why AStA?
Student committees offer us a great opportunity to actively participate in university political processes.
For more than ten years now, I have been active in various representative bodies and have grown with my tasks and challenges. I enthusiastically look forward to continuing such an activity.

Activities?
My goals in the AStA are to strengthen the administrative structure, to actively organize meetings with the university administration and to realize a lively cooperation between the committees and associations.

And besides that?
I appreciate to get to know people in different ways, to take something from them and to gain something from them.
I am always open to your concerns and wishes.

PAUL KUNZE

Co-Chair

Studies: Mechanical Engineering Bachelor since September 2020

Moin,

My name is Paul. I come from a small town not far from Stralsund. I chose Stralsund because I prefer to study at a small, practice-oriented university than at a large university. In addition, the beautiful location and the proximity to home were decisive for this decision.

Why the AStA?

When I started studying, the 2nd lockdown came and the lectures were almost exclusively online for 2 semesters. During this time, the online events organized by the AStA helped me to get to know other students and brought us a little closer together despite Corona. As a result, I was invited to the weekly meetings and now I am here and can hopefully do the same for other students.

What else?

I'm very into sports, I've done breakdancing and boxing. However, I am still looking for a sports hobby for Stralsund.

Finances

FINANCES

The responsibilities of a finance speaker are to keep track of finances, do budget planning, and monitor budget compliance.

The main speaker is currently Dominic Henning.

They can be contacted directly at asta.finanzen@hochschule-stralsund.de.

DOMINIC HENNING

Main Speaker

Studies: Business Informatics since WS 2019/20

Moin,

I am Dominic Henning, a native of Stralsund, but grew up in Hamburg. After graduating from high school, the charm of this small but nice university drew me to Stralsund to do my studies here and be closer to my family.

Why the AStA?

Commitment is a way to show that you can think of other people and achieve great things together. This is what I want to contribute to. I already spent a year at the International Event Point (IEP) and then worked as an elected member of the student parliament to improve the lives of students. Now I have set my sights on the AStA and hope that together we can achieve a lot.

Activities?

I would like to bring my experience to the Events, Sports and Culture, and Sustainability units and help both put on nice events.

ULRIKE KLAAß

Co-Speaker

Studied: BMS since WS 2019/20

Hi,

I'm Ulrike Klaaß and I come from a small village in East Thuringia, near Jena. I moved to Stralsund to study, as far away from home as possible. HOST offered both my desired degree programme and it is far enough away to give in to my wanderlust.

Why the AStA?

The idea of volunteering at the university had been around for a while. When I heard that the AStA was looking for financiers, the whole thing became concrete, and three WhatsApp messages later, my decision was made. Why did I decide on the finance department? I am studying in my sixth semester with a specialisation in finance. In short, I have a soft spot for finance and like working with numbers. What sounds like a lie for the job interview is actually true.

Activities?

Since 18.05.22, I have been co-financier in the AStA. There I take care of the bookkeeping and budgetary matters.

Treasury

TREASURY

The task of the treasurer is to monitor the cash and bank accounts of the AStA. A treasurer also makes bank transfers.

Speaker is currently Christian Tokaji.

They can be contacted at asta.kassenverwaltung@hochschule-stralsund.de.

CHRISTIAN TOKAJI

Co-speaker

Studies: Industrial Engineering Master since winter semester 2020/21 and Diploma Supplementary Industrial Engineering since winter semester 2018/19.

Moin,

my name is Christian Tokaji and I come from beautiful Eberswalde near Berlin. I have been studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences since 2015. I chose Stralsund because I only heard positive things about the university and I love the proximity to the water. I have never regretted this decision since then.

Why AStA?

At my old UAS, I was already active in different committees for a few semesters (e.g. StuPa, Senate & Student Council), but the activities & tasks there were more theoretical than practical. Since 2015, I have been active for the AStA in various departments and have a lot of fun with it. The opportunity to engage in varied activities for the student body is an indispensable and important experience for me.

Activities?

Currently I am working in the departments of cash administration and house 8. Within the cash administration I take care that the AStA as well as other committees and associations receive requested funds. In the department Haus 8 I am currently reviving the legendary Haus 8 together with my colleagues.

JEAN JACQUES BERRY

Co-Speaker

Studies: SMIB since WS 16/17

Hello,

My name is Jacques and I come from the small seaside resort of Lubmin on the Bodden. So by growing up in the north and showing technical interest, studying at HOST made a lot of sense.

Why the AStA?

Because I have been part of the ETI student council since my 2nd semester and would like to get more involved in my WINF Master. Since AstA has members from all faculties, joining was an obvious choice.

Activities?

Everything that happens in house 12 and on the Discord server.

JACOB HEILEN

Co-Speaker

Studied: Mechanical Engineering Master

Moin,

my name is Jacob. I am originally from NRW. I chose to study at the University of Stralsund because of the small and practical university. Also because of the proximity to the Baltic Sea.

Why AStA?

I was already involved in voluntary work at the university during my bachelor studies and wanted to continue this during my master studies.

Events, sports and culture

EVENTS, SPORTS AND CULTURE

The Events, Sports and Culture Department organizes major events and parties for all students. For example, there is the Prom, where you can get really dressed up, or Hawaii evenings on the beach. With sports events, we give students the opportunity to escape from everyday life at the university, in addition to existing sports activities. But we don't miss out on cultural topics either.

The current main-speaker is Lisa Klomann. She is supported by Paul Kunze.

They can contacted at asta.events@hochschule-stralsund.de.

LISA KLOMANN

Main-speaker

Studies: LTM since WS 2020/21

Hey, I'm Lisa and I'm from Witten. I moved to Stralsund because I wanted to live by the sea and the university seemed very appealing. When I was here, I was not disappointed, because Stralsund is a beautiful city!

Why the AStA?

I love organizing things and participating in events, so AStA in the Events Department was the perfect choice for me! During my time in the AStA I have already gained a lot of new experiences and with a cool team the work is even more fun!

And what else?

In my free time I like to do sports or meet friends at the beach in the summer. I would also love to travel the whole world!

FINN SIEHL

Co-Speaker

Studied: Software development and media informatics since WS 2020

Hello,

I am Finn Siehl and come from Buxtehude near Hamburg. Due to my technical interests, I became aware of studying at the Baltic Sea. Also, the size of the university and the rather relaxed studying with beach location appealed to me very much. So far I have not been disappointed.

Why AStA?

After the long pandemic, I no longer wanted to sit at home all the time, but wanted to make good use of my time. I see the AStA as the perfect opportunity to use my free time to plan events and to participate within the university. In addition, I think it's important to make students' lives on campus more eventful, exciting and cheerful again.

And what else?

In my free time, I like to produce electronic music or take photos. When the weather is nice, I'm very likely to be found on the beach with friends.

Haus 8

HAUS 8

The department Haus 8 is the youngest of the AStA departments and was founded in summer 2020. House 8 is known to many as a meeting place for students, which is located directly on the university campus. After years of closure, new life is now to be breathed into the place. The keynote speaker is Till Mormann. He is assisted by the Co-speakers Cassandra Gröbe and Christian Tokaji.

They can be contacted at asta.haus8@hochschule-stralsund.de

TILL MORMANN

Main-Speaker

Studies: International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region since WS 2019/2020.

Moin,
I am Till and come from the beautiful Bachstadt and carnival stronghold Köthen
in Saxony-Anhalt. Looking for a completely English-language study program in the field of management, I came across HOST and have not regretted it. Stralsund is a beautiful city, the campus modern, the university "familiar" and the beach only 5 min away.

Why the AStA?

I have been a member of the carnival club KUKAKÖ all my life, so it is a matter of course for me to get involved in the community and to always help out.
and to always lend a hand. Where could I do that better than in the AStA?

Activities?

We want to achieve the revival of our student bar Haus 8, so that we finally have a regular meeting place for all students directly on campus again.

CHRISTIAN TOKAJI

Co-speaker

Studies: Industrial Engineering Bachelor since winter semester 2015/16

I'm Christian and I'm from near Berlin. I have been studying at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences since 2015. I chose Stralsund because I only heard good things about the university, I love the proximity to the water and I like living in different cities.

Activities?

I am active in the department of university politics, because I can represent the interests of our students towards the university, but also on a local & national level and thus make studying a bit more pleasant for all of us.

I also work in the department house 8 and I am responsible for the cash administration.

CASSANDRA-LORRAINE GRÖBE

the world, I decided to come back to Stralsund for my studies.
Stralsund for my studies.

Why AStA?

I find it exciting to look behind the scenes of the university and to get better insights. Since every voice should be heard, I want to get involved with the students and represent their opinions. Since I grew up in Stralsund, I still know House 8 in action. I am looking forward to reviving Haus 8 and creating added value for students in this way.

And what else?

Besides my studies, I work on the most beautiful island in Germany, Rügen, and take advantage of the great conditions there to go surfing. I also enjoy exploring new places and being out in nature.

Internationals and Freshman

INTERNATIONALS AND FRESHMAN

The I&F department aims to give first-year students and internationals a good start to their studies and to make their time at the university more varied. LILY IWANSKI

Co-Speaker

Studied: Leisure and Tourism Management since WS 2020

Hello, I'm Lily and I'm from the other corner of Germany, Saarland. The move across the country was rewarded with a familiar uni,
sea & beach within walking distance and a very charming old town. In addition, I was convinced by the international nature of the course, in which
which requires stays abroad and the focus on foreign languages. For me as a person who loves to travel, this was of course decisive!

Why the AStA?
I already knew the AStA from my time at university in my home country, so it was quickly clear to me in which committee I would like to get involved.
I would like to be involved. The activities in the AStA are very diverse and beside the commitment for our fellow students it is possible for me personally to promote and extend my
skills and abilities. I also find it very interesting to get a look behind the scenes.

Activities?
In the department we take care of the concerns of internationals and first-year students, organize smaller and larger events for them, and generally try to
and generally try to give them a good and easy start in their new city and in their new everyday life as students.

And what else?
To confirm the LTM cliché: I also love to travel in my free time. Other than that, I like to spend time with music,
a book, nature, food and my friends.

Sustainability

Sustainability

The idea of the department and its members is to make the topic of sustainability at the university easily accessible to students. In addition, actions such as the organization of clothing swap parties and garbage collection campaigns are intended to make campus life greener. One of our biggest ongoing projects is the Beste-Reste-Bude, our construction trailer. The main speaker is currently Dominic Henning.

They can be contacted directly at asta.nachhaltigkeit@hochschule-stralsund.de.

Public Relations

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Public Relation's job is to make AStA known at the university as well as beyond. We create merch, flyers and posters to promote events. In addition, maintaining social media and the website, communicating and interacting with students is an important part of the job.

The main speaker is currently Karoline Giese.

They can be contacted directly at asta.pr@hochschule-stralsund.de .

KAROLINE GIESE

Main Speaker

Studied: BWL since WS 2019/20

Hey :)

I'm Karo and I'm from a small town in Brandenburg. After my Abi I wasn't sure where exactly I wanted to study and then I came to Stralsund rather by chance. I am still very happy with my decision. On the one hand, it's because of the proximity to the sea, and on the other hand, it's because of the people I've met here.

Why AStA?

I wanted to get involved in the AStA for a long time, but then Corona came in between and I had no more points of contact with it. Then they were looking for members for PR and I decided to finally join. The tasks are manifold. For example: Designing posters, creating Insta posts, promoting events, etc.
I really enjoy working with the dedicated members of the AStA. It's also very interesting to take a look behind the scenes of an important committee.

And what else?

In my free time, I like meeting friends, going to sports and traveling.

Social

SOCIAL

As a social affairs speaker, you work to counteract any kind of discrimination, to quote the university's Equal Opportunity Officer. The officers are mainly involved in support services, such as the "Babysitterbörse" (babysitter exchange) and organize offers such as blood donation campaigns and first aid courses. Current projects are the "Music-Mensa" or our constantly growing game collection, where games can be borrowed.

The main speaker is Elias Klotz.

Why AStA?

To improve the circumstances at the university, for fun and to waste less of my life time.

And what else?

I go sailing, bike riding and build a rocket at Sundspace. Also I am still a bit active for my scout tribe in Hildesheim.

MARLENE SCHMIDT

Main speaker

Studied: Health economics since SS 2021

Hey,

I'm Marlene and I'm from near Lübeck. After graduating from high school, I wanted to study in the field of health and stay by the sea at the same time. Stralsund is perfect for that :)
I started studying medical information management/eHealth in my bachelor's degree and then stayed here for my master's degree in health economics.

Why AStA?

Through the AStA you have the opportunity to look behind the scenes, to work with a team and at the same time to help shape everyday life for students. If you can organize movie nights at the same time, that's great.

And what else?

Besides my studies, I'm always up for game or movie nights. I like to go for walks with my own dog or dogs from the animal shelter. If there is time, I love to travel and see the world.

MERLE PÄTSCH

Why AStA?

I joined the AStA and specifically the student cinema so that I can add value to the students and balance their studies.

And what else?

Besides my studies, I like to spend time at the horse farm or relax with hours of walking with or without the dog by the sea.
