Sustainability at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences
Find here all activities and other useful information on the topic of sustainability at HOST
Sustainability is not an optional field of action, but a central obligation – for our society and therefore also for universities. As places of education, research, and innovation, we bear a special responsibility to advance sustainable development in all its dimensions.
Research without sustainability ignores the pressing challenges of our time. Teaching without sustainability fails to impart the necessary skills for a future-oriented society. However, sustainability is not only about research and teaching, but also about our operations, our transfer into society, and our governance.
We are guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are implementing concrete measures, which are documented on this page.
In addition, you will find access here to key documents such as the greenhouse gas inventory (2023) and the current status report on climate protection and sustainability, as well as information on continuing education opportunities and events related to sustainability and possibilities for participation.
What Drives Us
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a global call to action for a better and more sustainable future. They include 17 goals to be achieved by 2030, addressing key challenges such as poverty, education, health, climate action, gender equality, and the protection of natural resources. The SDGs apply to all countries – whether rich or poor – and call on governments, businesses, and civil society worldwide to work together for a more just and livable world.
