The Justiziariat (Legal Department) supports the university in a wide range of legal matters.
The responsibilities of the Justiziariat include, among others:

  • the legal review of new examination and study regulations as well as amending statutes, and support throughout the approval process,
  • the legal design and adaptation or review of further statutes and internal guidelines,
  • legal advice to boards and committees (consultation on legal matters),
  • the general handling of legal inquiries, particularly in the areas of employment law, civil service law, and remuneration law,
  • support for examination committees, particularly in objection proceedings,
  • support for the HR department on employment law matters,
  • legal representation of the university in court proceedings,
  • coordination activities in data protection matters (data protection coordination),
  • the anti-discrimination policy – complaints office,
  • contract review, and
  • contract management.
